Title: Intern, Career & Workforce Programs - RWALC

VP Area: Provost - UMW

Department: Center for Career and Professional Development

Advertised Range: $15 per hour

Job Summary/Basic Functions

• Draft and edit templates and content for emails, newsletters, websites, and social media related to programs and events
• Assist with promotion, planning, and on site/virtual support for events such as workshops, information sessions, regional events, and employer and student programs
• Assist with event preparation, including setup, breakdown, material organization, and follow-up communication
• Update web pages and digital resources under staff guidance to ensure timely, accurate information
• Maintain contact lists, communication trackers, and basic event and program data
• Provide support for data-related tasks, including organizing spreadsheets and gaining exposure to basic data analysis
• Provide general administrative and project support including special projects as assigned by staff
• Maintain confidentiality and follow campus and office policies

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program
• Interest in workforce and/or economic development, human resources, communications, or higher education
• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft 365 and AI with a willingness to learn new software and tools
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Reliable, responsible, punctual, and professional demeanor
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team

Preferred Skills (Not Required)
• Familiarity with web design tools or platforms (e.g., basic HTML, WordPress, Canva)
• Experience or interest in content creation (writing, graphics, or multimedia)
• Basic knowledge of spreadsheets or data visualization tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Customer service experience or interest
