The University of Mary Washington, a Division III member of the NCAA, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Head Men's Rugby Coach. The head coach will be responsible for all facts of the program, including, but not limited to, recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes, which includes international recruitment, academic performance of student athletes, overseeing team budget and travel, fundraising, overseeing assistant coaches, practice and meet preparation and other duties as assigned. This individual will be required to be CPR and First Aid certified. As members of the athletic department, head coaches play a role in service to the College of Arts and Sciences as well as the university.
Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Head Rugby Coach will be responsible for all facets of the men's rugby program including, but not limited to, recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes, supporting the recruitment of international rugby players, monitoring grades, academic progress and conduct of student-athletes, maintaining positive relations with alumni and friends- groups, game day management (including chaperoning games away from UMW), overseeing team budget and travel, fundraising, program volunteer activities, social media management, overseeing staffing (including supervision of rugby coaches), planning practices and preparing in game strategies, meeting regularly with coaches and team officers to discuss goals, progress and improvements, general maintenance and care of the pitch, and other duties as assigned.
Required KSAs / Competencies / Qualifications:
Required Experience:
Commensurate certification or at least 3 years of rugby coaching experience, 2-4 years of rugby playing experience. Demonstrated experience successfully managing diverse teams, preferably at the college level.
