Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Crisis Professional On-Call is a part-time wage position that provides on-call support to the Resident Assistant staff on a weekly rotating basis. This position will work with other professionals within the on-call structure to schedule 24/7 coverage of the Fredericksburg campus. During on-call weeks, the Crisis Professional On-Call is required to carry a University issued “Professional On-Call” cell phone and respond to call incoming calls from Residence Life and Housing staff, UMW Police, and other University Administrators. During a typical on-call week, the CPOC may respond to general Standard Operating Procedure questions from Resident Assistants, provide over-the-phone and in-person support during behavioral and crisis incidents, serve as an escalation point for students and parents, resolve card access issues, make emergency contact notifications, and report up all serious incidents per the crisis communication matrix. Incidents may include, but are not limited to alcohol and drug use, roommate conflicts, mental health crisis, welfare checks, altercations, or any situation where student staff needs support. Due to the nature of the position, employees must reside in a University-provided on-campus apartment and be able to respond to an incident within 20 minutes of notification.
