Job Summary/Basic Functions

Reporting to the AVP of Advancement Services, the Director of Data Insight, Research, and Prospect Management will help set and support Advancement and Alumni Engagement’s data-driven strategy and exemplify building a data-fluent culture within the department. The Director will collaborate with senior leadership in Advancement and Alumni engagement and with partners in University IT to achieve comprehensive data integration, maturity, and efficiency. They will be charged with deriving insight from data to answer some of the divisions most critical and challenging questions. They will also own the responsibility for identifying potential donors and developing creative and innovative prospect research, to support frontline fundraising and alumni engagement team members to help drive revenue and increase alumni engagement. The Director will champion the potential in each team within Advancement and Alumni Engagement maximizing intersectional strategies between and within individual philanthropy, corporate and foundation philanthropy, advancement services, and alumni engagement. This position supports the Advancement team and by extension the University leadership in all aspects of establishing and maintaining the long-term relationships between the University and its constituents. It also serves as a data steward and partner to the Advancement Services team assisting and leading projects within that area that strengthen the quality of data in the database of record.

Required Experience:

Three to four years of professional experience in a data analytics or prospect research or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven track record in proactive research practices. Experience working with confidential information. Experience managing multiple and complex projects, meeting deadlines, adapting to changing priorities and needs. Experience working with campaign planning.

Additional Considerations:

Knowledge and experience with Banner and/or other advancement databases, ResearchPoint, LiveAlumni, iWave, and AlumniFinder. Knowledge of financial regulations and security protocols related to fundraising operations. Knowledge of data and IT security protocols related to higher education and fundraising operations. Experience working in a higher education environment. Works well under pressure. Experience in comprehensive campaign planning and execution. Awareness of national trends in higher education philanthropic efforts. Enjoys grasping complex subjects and synthesizing them into compelling and easily digestible messages. Familiarity using prospect research resources such as AlumniFinder, iWave, Zillow, LinkedIn, Google, University Archives and prior publications, Dun & Bradstreet, Martindale-Hubbell, ZoomInfo, salary.com, FindLaw, Class notes, Foundation Directory, and other sources.
