Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Executive Director of Gift Planning and Major Gifts organizes and manages all aspects of the Gift Planning program for the University of Mary Washington. This is accomplished by building a marketing and communication strategy to help generate planned giving leads, and communicate the impact of testamentary gifts of all kinds.
In addition, the Executive Director will work with donors and prospects to cultivate, qualify and close gifts for UMW (both planned and current use gifts). As the planned giving expert on the team, the Executive Director collaborates with other frontline fundraisers on testamentary gifts of all kinds. The Executive Director will also have responsibility for working on current use major gifts from within their portfolio.
Required Experience:
Eight to 10 years' experience in higher education fundraising or equivalent years in gift planning for a nonprofit.
