Job Summary/Basic Functions

The University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join our Facilities team as a Plumber/Steamfitter Supervisor. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, schedule and prioritize specific work assignments;
  • Interpret work orders, blueprints, or specifications;
  • Responsible for leading, assigning, and inspecting the work of other plumber-steamfitter personnel.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of building systems, including hot and cold water systems, sewer and stormwater systems, and mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, safety regulations, and compliance standards (e.g., Virginia building codes and BCOM requirements).
  • Ability to lead and supervise a team of skilled trades staff in a facilities maintenance environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and other departments regarding maintenance needs and project status.
  • Ability to carry tools and equipment to and from job site.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and from ladders and lifts.

 

Required Experience:

  • Extensive experience in plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance.

 

Required Licensure:

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License to operate a University/state owned or leased vehicle.
  • Plumber Journeyman's license.

Additional Considerations:

EDUCATION

  • High School graduate or equivalent

  • Knowledge of University Work Request System
  • Knowledge of Building Automated System (BAS)
  • Knowledge of UMW procurement and Small Purchase Charge Card Program
