Job Summary/Basic Functions
The University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Accountant. This position supports the financial operations of the institution by independently performing complex accounting and reconciliation functions in accordance with institutional policies, state and federal regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The role prepares and maintains advanced Excel-based cost distribution tools, analyzes financial transactions for accuracy and compliance, and completes monthly cost distributions and uploads to automated accounting system. The position researches and resolves discrepancies, prepares correcting entries, internal transfers, and budget adjustments, and ensures the integrity of financial data through detailed review and reconciliation. Responsibilities include reconciling bank accounts and payment systems, preparing required tax filings, managing Due Diligence reporting, and responding to departmental inquiries related to expenses and revenues. The role collaborates closely with accounting, finance, budget and purchasing offices; delivering accurate and timely financial services to support the University's mission and campus community.
This position is designated as a Quasi-Full-Time (30 hours/week) classified position.
