Job Summary/Basic Functions
The STARS Center Summer Student Aide provides essential front‑desk and administrative support during the University’s busiest summer periods, including New Student Orientation and the Summer Transition Program. Serving as the first point of contact, the student aide greets visitors, responds to phone and email inquiries, and helps ensure the office operates smoothly when professional staff are engaged in orientation and outreach activities. The role requires strong customer service, organization, and communication skills to support students, families, and campus partners. This position helps maintain a welcoming, efficient, and responsive environment that supports student success throughout the summer.
Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications
-Be available for employment from Monday, May 11 through Friday, August 14, 2026.
-Commit to approximately 15–20 work hours per week, Monday–Friday.
-Staff the STARS Center front desk, serving as the first point of contact for students, families, and campus visitors.
-Answer phones, respond to general email inquiries, and route questions to appropriate staff members.
-Assist with office operations including maintaining a welcoming office environment.
-Support New Student Orientation and Summer Transition Program activities, including managing visitor flow and providing program information.
Required Experience:
-Must be in good academic standing at the end of the Spring 2026 semester.
-Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with students, families, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
-Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information.

Must be a full-time student at the University of Mary Washington
Required Licensure:
No licensure required
Additional Considerations:
-Assist professional staff with administrative projects and event logistics as needed.
-Work both independently and collaboratively with STARS Center staff on assigned tasks.
-Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling student records and information.
-Complete other duties as assigned by STARS Center directors and staff.
