Job Summary/Basic Functions
The University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Collections Manager and Gallery Administrator. The Collections Manager and Gallery Administrator supports the day-to-day operations of the UMW Galleries by welcoming visitors, answering questions about artists and exhibitions, preparing and maintaining the gallery space(s); assists with installation and de-installation of artwork, labeling pieces, installing vinyl and lighting, and preparing exhibition materials; documents and insures incoming artwork; manages administrative tasks (visitor logs, email and mail correspondence, tracking attendance, ordering supplies); coordinates events (receptions and lectures); ensures the safety and proper care of the UMW Galleries permanent art collection (storage and campus loans); processes gifts and acquisitions; mats and frames works as needed; and maintains the PastPerfect database. This role recruits, schedules, and supervises the paid student gallery monitors and assists with coordinating the gallery interns (internships available each semester).
This is a part-time, wage position and is not eligible for fringe benefits.
