Job Summary/Basic Functions

The University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Internship Fellows Coordinator. The Internship Fellows Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and long-term development of the Life After Mary Washington Internship Fellows Program, a cohort-based experiential learning initiative supporting students through the internship search process, internship experience, and post-experience reflection. The Coordinator provides direct student support, oversees program logistics and communications, collaborates with Faculty and Industry Fellows, and leads assessment and reporting efforts tied to grant deliverables and institutional goals.

This position requires a highly organized, student-centered professional who brings energy, creativity, and strong relationship-building skills to their work. The Coordinator will work closely with CCPD colleagues to ensure the program is integrated into broader career education efforts and contributes meaningfully to UMW’s work-based learning ecosystem.

Some evening or occasional weekend work may be required to support workshops, events, or program milestones. The position works closely with students and campus partners and requires flexibility during peak periods. This is a grant-funded, wage position that will be available through September 30, 2026. 

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage students, faculty, employers, and campus partners
  • Ability to design, coordinate, and manage programs or initiatives with multiple stakeholders and timelines
  • Ability to analyze data, assess outcomes, and translate insights into program improvements and reports
  • High level of initiative, adaptability, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Comfort working collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
  • Commitment to equity, access, and student-centered practices in work-based learning
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring students and supporting reflective, experiential learning

 

Required Experience:

  • 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in career development, experiential learning, higher education program coordination, or a related field
  • Experience managing programs, projects, or initiatives with student-facing components 
  • Experience supporting undergraduate students through coaching, advising, or mentoring, particularly related to career development or experiential learning
