The University of Mary Washington is in search of a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting and is part of the Finance team. Job duties and basic functions include providing support to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of accounting activities and transactions for the University and assisting with preparation of financial schedules and reports. Position responsibilities also include performing account reconciliations; analyzing transactions and preparing monthly sales, meals and lodging tax returns; performing analysis to identify errors and preparing proper correcting entries; creating queries, reports and schedules to support department functions; processing reimbursement and recovery entries and other accounting-related duties.

General Accounting experience, strong computer skills and demonstrated proficiency with Excel, experience with integrated financial systems, and knowledge of GAAP are required. A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, experience in public higher education, and experience with Banner and Cardinal are preferred.
