The Center for Student Transition, Access, & Retention Services (STARS) at the University of Mary Washington is seeking motivated, responsible student leaders to serve as 2026 STP Summer Peer Counselors for the Summer Transition Program (STP). The 2026 residential program will run Sunday, July 5 – Friday, July 17, with the peer counselor role spanning Wednesday, June 24 – Saturday, July 18, including required training and residence hall closing. Peer Counselors supervise the residential component, lead team-building activities, support study halls, and provide one-on-one and small-group mentorship to incoming students. Strong communication skills, organization, cultural competency, and a commitment to student success are essential.
Qualified applicants must be full-time, degree-seeking UMW students, rising juniors or seniors by the end of Spring 2026, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. The position includes an $800 stipend plus on-campus housing and meals for the duration of training and the program.
