Job Summary/Basic Functions

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the College of Education! The Visiting Assistant Professor position is a non-tenure track position held by an individual who possesses all the qualifications to be appointed at that rank. The Visiting Assistant Professor's teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. To meet with students for office hours every week and to be available to communicate with students regularly. To attend department meetings, convocation, and other university-wide meetings as needed. To keep accurate attendance, provide syllabi by the first class day, grade assignments in a timely manner, to submit midterm and final grades on time, and to communicate with the department chair and other faculty as needed.

The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours each semester and may include afternoon and/ or evening courses. Completion of the Ph.D. is required by August 15, 2025. The successful candidate will contribute to the education program and the COE through the following efforts:

  • Teach 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate and graduate level courses in traditional, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Supervise teacher candidates in the field.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D in education from an accredited institution by the date of employment.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching.

 

Required Experience:

  • Experience with pre-service and/ or in-service teacher education.
  • Minimum of three years, full time, K-12 teaching.
  • Expertise or experience in one or more of the following:
    • Literacy
    • TESL
    • SPED

 

Additional Considerations:

  • Experience with teacher candidate supervision.
